Problems (Chapter 7)

1- (a) What is the frequency of light having a wavelength of 456 nm? (b) What is the wavelength (in nanometers) of radiation having a frequency of 2.45 × 109 Hz.

2-The first line of the Balmer series occurs at a wavelength of 656.3, what is the energy difference between the two energy levels involved in the emission that results in this spectral line.

      3.027× 10-19 J
3- An electron in the hydrogen atom makes a transition from an energy state of principle quantum number ni to the n = 2 state. If the photon emitted has the wavelength of 434 nm, what is the value of ni.
4- Write the ground state electron configurations for the following
K       Pr      Mo      Te        Kr
